You Don’t Need a PhD to Master the Art of Applying False Lashes, Literally Anyone Can — Here's How
Yes I am a makeup artist, and have been for the last 15 years. The number one question I always get asked is “how do I apply false lashes?”, “why do I always struggle to wear false lashes?”, “I love the look of lashes but why is it so hard to apply?”
Yes there are alternative solutions such as Lash Extensions and Lash lifts, but they can be time consuming and to be quite frank – a little on the pricy side. And like the beauty editor of Allure Magazine once said: “I love the look of long, feathery lashes, but extensions are tedious and expensive and lash lifts are also expensive. I just want to live a luxury lash lifestyle on a never-not-flying-coach-with-a-carry-on budget. Is that so hard to ask?”
Sometimes I think we approach lashes with a sense of fear that it just won’t work. The moment we think a task is hard- it will always be hard. Let’s be honest, if we have the ability to walk straight in a pair of heels, phone in one hand, latte in the other, laptop and handbag in arm, then Girl – this is a walk in the park!
Ok – so first step:
1.Make friends with your lashes and prep them to perfection.
Get rid of that fear factor, these lashes are working for you! Measure the strip against your actual eyelid and trim off the excess (not while it's against your eye, good lord). You can use the extra bit to later stack upon the lash strip at your eye's outer corners for extra va va voom if you want, or you can use it when you just want a bit more emphasis on top of your natural outer lashes, like a dress's train.

2. Apply the Lash Pen Liner
No need for lash glue, when you have The Lash Pen, waterproof eyeliner and lash adhesive!
Available in Clear or Black, you can achieve your desired look. If still practicing the clear is the best to start with, mistake proof adhesive. Wanting that Cat eye snatch, then go in with the black.
Like any eyeliner, simply line your entire lash line (remember it is an adhesive after all, so you need to have the adhesive along the lash line especially where you will attach the lash.
So simple, so innovative.
3. Look downwards into a mirror, not straight ahead.
Now its game time! Don’t close your eye to apply the lash, simply look down. This will allow your eyelid to extend without creases and so much easier to apply the lash. A great tip is to place a mirror under your face and look down, almost like you're closing your eyes, but you'll be better able to see exactly where to place the strip. It really is so much easier than trying to do this staring into a vertical mirror and poking yourself in eyes.
For the experts, you can place lash strips with your fingers but Tweezers can assist also.
Place the lash in the centre of your eyes and the adjust the ends to fit your eyeshape. A little pressure will assist the lash in adhering to the liner.
4. PRO TIP - Add the finishing touches
Now you can stop here – but for that seamless finish, Grab the black Liner again and draw a line extending the band from where it begins to the inner corner of your eye.
Now that you've got your lashes on, here's a crucial step to make your strip lashes look less obvious like you're wearing strip lashes. This will make you strip lash look less obvious. You can also flick out the end if you want a winged effect, but this is mostly just to blend the line of the band to your lash line.

We live in a world where there are many buzz words when it comes to beauty products and unfortunately, not all companies are ethical i.e they don’t say what they mean. So when you see products that say they are ‘cruelty-free’, please do further research before you trust the wording.
